For the first time in 30 years, public transport will be available in Dunedin during Easter.

The Otago Heritage Bus Society Inc has scheduled a Leyland Leopard 194 service between St Clair and Normanby, via the Octagon, on Good Friday and Easter Sunday, to service one of Dunedin's most popular routes.

Society chairman Philip Riley said the service had been approved by the Otago Regional Council and would depart St Clair on the hour and from Normanby on the half hour, between 9am and 7.45pm.

Fares would be by gold-coin or Easter-egg donations. Cash would go towards the neurosurgery campaign and the Easter eggs would go to local food banks, he said.
