Armed offenders squad deployed as precaution

The armed offenders squad assists with the execution of a search warrant at a Corstorphine, Dunedin, house about 7am yesterday.

Senior Sergeant Darryl Lennane, of Dunedin, said the squad was used as a precaution, given the nature of the warrant.

‘‘The occupants of the address were co-operative and are assisting police with their inquiries,'' he said.

‘‘Residents of the area have no cause for any ongoing concern.''

Snr Sgt Lennane would not disclose the nature of the warrant.

Road blocks in Corstorphine and Middleton Rds disrupted traffic for about an hour during the police operation.
