After a lot of hard work by the café team, led by Fiona Renton, the new facility opened without a hitch.
The food has been well received and the new flow (created by the separate coffee area) means that speed of service is improved.
“The feedback I am getting is all very positive and customers really like the new enhanced space,” Southern DHB District Service Manager Heather Fleming said.
The upgrade of Lakes District Hospital will be starting soon after resource consent was granted. The upgrade includes the installation of a CT scanner and ultrasound services, the extension of the Emergency Department, the creation of a telemedicine suite, refurbishment of the reception and outpatients areas and the installation of a cooling ventilation system through the hospital. The expectation is for most of the redeveloped areas including the Emergency Department and CT scanning facilities to be operational from around June 2019. Southern DHB CEO Chris Fleming thanked the clinical and operations staff and planning teams for their ideas, commitment and solutions. “This is undoubtedly a priority for the district, the result will make a real difference to the community, and offer a far better environment for our colleagues at Lakes to do their jobs.” |
