Voter enrolment now above 89%

Voter enrolments are tracking strongly for the Dunedin and Taieri electorates ahead of the 2023 general election next month.

Figures from the Electoral Commission show that at present 89.25% of eligible voters are enrolled in the Dunedin electorate — ahead of the 87% who were enrolled by the same time in 2020. Enrolments in 2020 increased to 89.4% by election day.

At present 93.68% of eligible voters are enrolled in the Taieri electorate — about the same as the 93.8% enrolled by the same time in 2020. Enrolments in 2020 increased to 96.8% by election day.

You are eligible to enrol and vote if you are 18 years or older, a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, and you have lived in New Zealand continuously for 12 months or more at some time in your life.

Enrolling and voting means you can have a say on the issues that affect you.
