But the results were much the same for Otago’s most dominant rowing club, though.
Dunstan Arm again was among the most successful clubs at the South Island championships at Lake Ruataniwha over the weekend.
The regatta was held under Covid-19 Red traffic light restrictions, meaning gathering limits had to be adhered to.
It had little impact on Dunstan, though, which cleaned up across the grades to claim 12 titles.
Notable was its gold medal in the women's premier quadruple sculls.
Sophie Smith, Pipi Horan, Mackenzie Ealson and Ella Price finished in 7min 12.80sec, beating second-placed Nelson by nearly 7sec.
It was a notable win for the club, claiming a feature title after typically dominating through the age grades.
That age-grade success was as strong as ever over the weekend.
Horan added to her success in the quad with an individual win in the under-17 girls
single sculls.
Harry Wilkinson and Jack Pearson also had individual success, claiming gold and silver respectively in the men’s club single sculls.
Kirsty Mahoney added another single sculls victory in the women’s masters.
Pearson and Aaron Maxwell teamed to win the men’s club double sculls, while Wilkinson and Angus Kenny won the men’s senior double.
Ruby Smith and Tahlia Nelson claimed gold in the girls under-15 double sculls.
The club also showed its depth in winning multiple quadruple and octuple sculls titles.
Otago Boys’ High School pair Grayson Small and Henry Kirk claimed a win in the under-19 pair, while Otago Girls’ duo Harriet Thompson and Islay Merriman won the under-17 double sculls.
Oamaru won a handful of novice titles, while Patrick Spillane and Nye Jones-Hogan took the boys under-15 double sculls.
Columba College also won a novice title when Grace Heath and Charli Sinclair prevailed in the double sculls.
Former Dunedin rowers Ben Mason and Reuben Cook, now based in Christchurch and Marlborough respectively, also showed their class in the men’s premier single sculls.
Mason claimed gold in the race, while Cook followed him in to take bronze.
