The Otago Rugby Supporters Club will farewell its Carisbrook clubrooms this Saturday and has secured new premises near the Forsyth Barr Stadium.
The club has been housed in various rooms at Carisbrook since it started in 1975 but with the ground no longer used and sold to the Dunedin City Council, it has been on the hunt for new clubrooms.
The club has now come to an agreement with Cadbury and would be using the Cadbury's staff social rooms on Castle St.
Chairman Kelvin Windsor said the club was looking for rooms near the new Forsyth Barr Stadium, but had been quoted upwards of $40,000 annually in rent and that was much too expensive.
But it had come to an agreement with Cadbury to use the staff social clubrooms, and supporters club members would also be able to use the Cadbury staff car park between Anzac Ave and Castle St.
Windsor declined to say how much they would be paying in rent but they were very happy with the agreement and the rooms were only about 10 minutes walk to the stadium.
This week's game between the Highlanders and the Hurricanes will be the last game for which the club would still be based at Carisbrook.
Buses cart members to the new stadium and back to the clubrooms but would not be used after Saturday.
Windsor, who has taken over as club chairman from Fred Cross, after the club's annual general meeting last week, said the club did not have anything special planned to mark leaving the Carisbrook rooms.
It had already had a function to mark games moving away from Carisbrook earlier in the year.
Windsor said memorabilia from the rooms at Carisbrook would be transferred to the new rooms.
The new venue will be in full operation next week, on May 19, when the Highlanders face the Bulls at Forsyth Barr Stadium.
The club, which had about 380 members, would still be able to raise funds for junior rugby in Otago.
