Zampach received a knock to his head when he was caught in a tackle at Miller Park.
He was taken to Dunedin Hospital for observation.
"Greg was sent home but had a bad night," Zingari-Richmond coach John Keenan told the Otago Daily Times yesterday.
"He had a bad cut on his mouth and will probably need dental work."
Keenan said the club was upset by the incident and would look at the video of the game to see whether it felt a citing was justified.
Zampach (33) is no stranger to rugby injuries.
He has had reconstructive surgery on both his shoulders, a broken ankle and hamstring problems.
He played 11 games on the wing for Otago in 2006-07 and was a member of the Highlanders squad in 2007.
He originally played for Taieri then transferred to Zingari.
He was a member of the Southern championship-winning team in 2007 and transferred back to Zingari this year.
