Windy weather played havoc on finals day at the South Island rowing championships at Lake Ruataniwha on Sunday.
The heats on Saturday took place in ideal weather but only 90 minutes of racing was possible on Sunday, before organisers called a halt.
Best performed of the Otago crews was the North End coxless quad scull, which had a commanding win, nearly 5sec ahead of a Timaru crew.
The race was held in choppy conditions and racing was abandoned a short while later.
The crew of Curtis Bush, Chris James, Matt Smail and Alistair Bond have had an impressive season and looked in control the whole race.
Also in good form was the Otago University women's coxed four, which finished second to Nelson in its final.
The four was Amy Grundy, Fiona Bourke, Anna Price, and Sarah Lindley, with Aynsely Moore as cox.
The crew finished 4.5sec behind the winning Nelson crew.
Moore also coxed the Otago University men's coxed four to third place, behind the Cure Boating Club and Timaru.
This four was made up of Albert Hanson, Fergus Fauvel, Will Hyndman and James Harvey.
North End sculler Michael Nisbet had a fine effort in the single sculls, finishing just over a second behind winner John Storey, to pick up second.
In the men's under-16 double sculls, Brodie Hume and Lachlan Landels finished third, 12sec behind the winning crew from Timaru.
The North End crew of Daniel Gold, Chris james, Joe Latta and Robbie Mears, with cox Aaron Woodhead, finished third in the under-19 coxed four,
behind a Christs College crew and a crew from Blenheim.
The championships were the last major meeting before the national championships at the same venue, starting on February 17.
