Straightothepoolroom, who joined the North Taieri stable of Steven Prince after his last-start win at Invercargill on February 18, is an acceptor for the Cromwell meeting on Sunday.

Prince said Straitothepoolroom had done well. KC Walters has the mount to enable a 2kg claim. He has ridden Straitothepoolroom in four of his eight wins. Straitothepoolroom had his first two wins from the Matamata stable of Jon Sargent and the last six for John and Karen Parsons.

Arrangements had been made for the No Excuse Needed gelding to change stables before his last win.

The Prince-trained Chaparella, also a last-start winner at Invercargill, has her next start in the open 1600m at Wingatui on Saturday week.

William Of Orange, winner of the open 1600m at Riccarton last Friday, will step up to 2000m in the Cromwell Cup on Sunday.

William Of Orange, the winner of eight races for Ikamatua trainers Peter and Ken O'Malley, ran third to Sun Valley and Made My Point in the Kumara Gold Nuggets (1810m) in January. William Of Orange has been in the care of Brian and Shane Anderton at North Taieri since Tuesday.

• Damian Browne, who won the Oakleigh Plate on Woorim at Caulfield last Saturday, has the mount on Planet Rock in the Lowland Stakes (2100m) at Hastings on Saturday.

Browne has turned down rides at Eagle Farm to ride Planet Rock for trainers Peter and Dawn Williams with whom he was associated when based in Christchurch.

Browne, now in Queensland, has not ridden in New Zealand since the Oamaru meeting in June, 2002. He won that day on the Ricky Donnelly-trained Escape To Victory and finished fifth on the Williams-trained Ebony Power, his last ride.

His wins for the Williams stable include the 2002 White Robe Lodge Handicap (Iguazu).

2000 South Island Two-Year-Old Final (Sir Clive), 1999 Canterbury Belle Stakes (Joan's Best) and 2002 South Island Three-Year-old Final (Critic).

Browne, who completed his apprenticeship with Jim Melton, has won 453 races in New Zealand.

The Oakleigh Plate was his fourth group one win and third in Australia.

Planet Rock is usually ridden by Hayden Tinsley, who is in Auckland to ride the Williams-trained Shuka in the New Zealand Derby.

Planet Rock leads the New Zealand Filly of the Year series after wins in the New Zealand One Thousand Guineas at Riccarton and Eight Carat Classic at Ellerslie and fourths to Zurella in the Royal Stakes and Sir Tristram Classic.

She has 20 points. Zurella (14) is in second place, ahead of Capital Diamond (12).

The Lowland Stakes and the New Zealand Oaks are the remaining races in the series.

Zurella is an acceptor for the Lowland Stakes and the New Zealand Derby on Saturday.

She is in the Lowland in case the track becomes rain-affected at Ellerslie.

"I'm just hoping it will go the same way as it did when I had my first ride for 15 years in Melbourne when I won aboard Buffering and Woorim last year," Browne said.

Buffering won the McEwen Stakes and Woorim was successful in an open handicap at Moonee Valley on September 10.

Eddie Wilkinson will now ride Mystical Grey in the listed Tattersall's Members' Cup (1600m) at Eagle Farm.

Browne rode the Craig Stott-trained Mystical Grey when the 7yr-old finished a first-up second to Tomboy over 1350m at Doomben this month.

Mystical Grey won the listed Spear Chief Handicap (1500m) at Eagle Farm in June with Wilkinson aboard.

"I can't fault him and he's come back a lot bigger and stronger this time," Stott said.

"He's really acclimatised since he came to Queensland last year."

• Prevailing provided father and son co-trainers Dave and Scott Brunton with an upset win in the $A225,000 Launceston Cup in Tasmania yesterday.

A late entry fee was paid for Prevailing after Dave Brunton omitted to nominate the Secret Savings 5yr-old.

Hobart Cup winner Geegees Blackflash who was going for his sixth straight win from as many starts this preparation and carrying 60kg, was second, beaten a neck.

Prevailing has won eight times and has six placings from 21 starts for $216,660 in stakes.
