Wanganui trainer Kevin Myers will campaign a team on the South Island holiday circuit beginning with the Otago meeting at Wingatui on Monday.

He has entered Excuseable, Stupendous, Il Poverino, Second Hope, Tropical Storm, Angelology, Prestigiosa, McCulley and Micken for the Otago meeting. Tropical Storm has recorded three wins in the South Island, two at Waimate and the other at Riccarton.

Myers will base members of his team at Wingatui after racing on Monday. He produced Lizac to win the Otago Steeplechase at Wingatui in June.

Myers is unsure if he will make the trip himself as he has commitments milking cows.

He can recall his first visit to Wingatui. That was in 1974 when as a 16-year-old he accompanied Nordic Star, owned by his father, Bill, and trained by Charlie Gestro and Walter McEwan.

Nordic Star ran second to Dalkeith Lad in the inaugural White Robe Lodge Handicap, beaten a head. Dalkeith Lad was ridden by Stewart Ching, later a stipendiary steward and now a representative of the Judicial Control Authority.
