The Paul Harris-trained Sandfly, who is in a rating 85 1600m, finished second to Vincitore over that distance at Oamaru on Monday, three days after finishing second to Pinzee over 1400m at Ashburton.
Jo Rathbone is back riding Lautenschlager in the steeplechase today. She missed the ride through injury when Lautenschlager finished second to Man O' Mann at Oamaru.
Man O' Mann is top weight with 69kg in the intermediate steeplechase at Trentham tomorrow.
Rathbone and Honey will attempt to repeat the win of last year in the Wellington Hurdles.
She has the mount on Zagata in the Wellington Steeplechase.
Brushman is attempting to repeat his win of two years ago in the Wellington Steeplechase.
Isaac Lupton has the mount.
Cody Singer rode Brushman in 2010.
Brompton (Parliamentary Handicap) and Matost (Whyte Handicap) are both attempting repeat wins in the feature flat races.
David Walsh, who rode Brompton last year, has the mount on Intransigent, whom he rode to win at Awapuni two starts back.
Jonathan Parkes is aboard Brompton, who has not flattered in two starts this winter.
Brompton has 54kg, the weight he carried last year.
Matost is up 1.5kg on the weight he carried in the Whyte last year with Michelle Wenn again the rider. He heads the field with 59kg.
Comanche Gold is making the trip from Riverton for the Whyte. Lance Robinson has retained the mount on the proven performer over 1600m on wet tracks.
Lisa Allpress has the mounts on Rising Tide (Parliamentary Handicap) and Superturf (Whyte Handicap). She rode both horses to last-start wins.
Rising Tide is unbeaten in three starts at Trentham, all on heavy tracks. Allpress rode a winner at Wanganui yesterday and she is now two wins behind Matthew Cameron in the national premiership.
Trainer Mark Oulaghan said Rising Tide might be vulnerable on a puggy track.
"If he doesn't get rain on Friday or Saturday, it [the track] might not be his thing," Oulaghan said.
"He prefers it loose."
Oulaghan has Wotabuzz a top chance in the Wellington Hurdles. Wotabuzz won a hurdles by 17 lengths at Trentham last month.
