Racing: Pair seeking third Cup win

Trainer Dean Taylor and driver Mark Jones, who have combined to win two Tuapeka Cups, have a top chance in River Black for the feature race at Forbury Park tomorrow.

River Black was beaten a neck by Flyin Courage at Forbury Park at his last start on October 6. He had won there on September 15.

The Courage Under Fire entire has also won at Methven from four starts this season.

Taylor and Jones won the Tuapeka Cup with Black Eyed Bailey in 2000 and Grenfell Robyn in 2005.

Craig Buchan, who trained Chanceafella to win the race in 1994, has El Nino in the field for the 50th jubilee meeting of the Tuapeka club.

El Nino was a last-start winner at Invercargill on September 18 and he won at Forbury Park in July.

Chanceafella was driven by Nigel McIntyre, now a senior stipendiary steward.

EL Nino is the driver of Kirstin Barclay. Maree Price is the only female driver to win a Tuapeka Cup. She was successful with Nuclear Byrd in 1997.
