Nairn won the Sires' Stakes Championship and Great Northern Derby (then known as the Rosso Antico Stakes) with the filly Enthusiast in 2000.
Nairn also won the Rosso Antico in 1995 with Above The Stars, after the colt had won on the first night of the Auckland meeting. Butt was also the driver.
Ima Gold Digger won the Sires' Stakes-Great Northern Trotting Derby last year.
Kahdon led from barrier four to win the Sires' Stakes Championship (2200m) by a length and a-half. She has drawn two over 2700m tonight.
The win was not out of turn. Kahdon was runner-up to Shezoneoftheboyz in the New Zealand Trotting Derby and second to Emma Hamilton in the New Zealand Trotting Oaks, both at Addington.
Shezoneoftheboyz finished second to Kahdon last Friday but she was relegated to third for causing interference to Rhythmic Sun after 200m.
Emma Hamilton was promoted to second.
• Stylish Monarch is on target for the $250,000 Rowe Cup tonight after two sound lead-up races at Alexandra Park.
He has been running on well for second and fourth over 2700m after starting from 30m and 20m handicaps.
His placings follow his win in the group one New Zealand Trotting Championship (2600m), his seventh win this season.
Ricky May, the driver of Stylish Monarch, won the 1988 Rowe Cup with Highwood.
Sundon's Gift will retain a following despite finishing seventh last week. The dual Interdominion winner covered extra ground after starting from 30m. It is a free-for-all tonight.
Trainer Phil Williamson has decided to start Springbank Richard in a fresh state. The 6yr-old has not raced for a month. Springbank Richard has been disappointing since he won the Dominion Handicap at Addington in November.
"I made the decision to try something different, but I really don't know if it is going to work," Williamson said.
Williamson said Springbank Richard was working as good as he was when he won the Dominion or when he finished second to One Over Kenny in the Rowe Cup last year.

Beths Boy, not McBeths Boy, has joined the stable of Steven Reid and Graeme Rogerson. Beths Boy, the winner of seven races for the Eight Proof syndicate when trained at Winton by Des Baynes, has been sold to race in the United States.
McBeth's Boy, trained at Winton by Tim White, has won three races for South Hillend breeders Don and Margaret McBeth.
