The 3yr-old King's Chapel-Shining Shells filly is trained at North Taieri by Steven Prince for the Out Of Africa syndicate. The 10 members of the syndicate are mainly from Te Anau.
They bought Bokkie Bokkie from breeder Sue Harty, of Waipawa, and Isla Bank trainer Kerry King.
Bokkie Bokkie has been with Prince since May. The filly won a jumpout at Wyndham last December when trained by King.
Bokkie Bokkie is the third foal of Shining Shells, a Shinko King mare who was unplaced in three starts.
"She [Bokkie Bokkie] is tall and lightly framed and I will see how she comes through the race before I make any plans for her," Prince said.
He was satisfied with the second placing of Chaparella fresh up over 1200m behind Slip Stream.
"She [Chaparella] had a good blow afterwards. Her rider [Daniel Stackhouse] said she was not comfortable in the ground and not a 1200m horse," Prince said.
"I feel I can move on with her now she has had a race."
Chaparella won a 1355m maiden race by 10 lengths at Gore last October at her third start.
• Lisa Whelan had her first win as a rider in her first day riding as an apprentice. Whelan won on The Hammer Head. Whelan (23) was unplaced on Carbonista three races earlier.
The Irish-born Whelan, who is apprenticed to Sally and Ben Gordon, had one ride as an amateur last season.
