Dexter Dunn, the ace reinsman, is due to resume driving in New Zealand at the Methven meeting on Sunday.

Dunn has been in the United States for the past 10 weeks. He drove 10 winners and finished fourth in the world driving championship.

Dunn is due back in NZ on Thursday, his 22nd birthday.

He was to have had his first drive as an open horseman at Forbury Park that night but the meeting has been abandoned after attracting only 48 nominations.

Dunn brought up a record 220 wins in New Zealand last season when he drove Eye Contact at Alexandra Park on June 17. He had driven Blackjacky to win at Waterlea earlier in the day. He signed off five seasons as a junior driver with a total of 742 wins in New Zealand.

He has been engaged for Hannah, Surfin Cees, The Burnside Flyer, Ged's Courage and Real Kamwood at Methven.

Surfin Cees was runner-up to Glencoe V C at Gore on Sunday when Hannah was a late-finishing third to Elation Franco and Maddison Renee.

Surfin Cees and Hannah are trained by Jeremy Douglas.

Ged's Courage and Real Kamwood are unraced 3yr-olds in the stable of Paul Kerr, who is planning to campaign them in Auckland later next month.

They qualified as 2yr-olds.

"We hope to take them up for the first Sires' Stakes heat at Cambridge and follow the same path as Soak It Up," Kerr said.

Soak It Up was placed in the Auckland campaign. He later won three races, including a Graduation series final at Addington in November. He died in May.

Lindt, a winner at Gore, has been entered for Methven. She will require a new driver, as Matthew Williamson was suspended at Addington on Friday night.

He was suspended from Friday until next Tuesday inclusive and fined $300 for failing to improve on the inside of Mr Chrome in the run home at Addington on Friday night when driving Rangataua Ray.

Lindt, a 9yr-old mare, was having her third start for Oamaru trainer Warren Bartlett.

She won at Forbury Park last month in five starts for Graeme Anderson and Amber Hoffman.

She won on grass at Westport and Otaki when trained by Ian Martin at Stratford.

• Smoken Up rated 1.55.5 for 2240m (mobile) when he won a free-for-all at Melton on Friday night.

The 10yr-old Karloo Mick won the Spring Cup at Menangle on Saturday night in a 1.56.6 rate for 2300m (mobile).

• A charge of improper driving against Philip Butcher has been dismissed by the Judicial Control Authority.

The charge was laid by Harness Racing New Zealand, alleging that Butcher drove Misty Magic improperly at Cambridge on May 19 when he restrained his horse, allowing stablemate Cowgirls N Indians to improve from four-wide to a two-wide position with approximately 1700m to run.

The JCA representatives, Brian Scott and G Jones, found the charge not proven to the required standard.
