Racing: Dream Out Loud wins trial in fine style

Dream Out Loud displayed fitness to resume racing on Sunday with a trial win at Rangiora yesterday.

Dream Out Loud, who has not raced since December 31, sprinted his last 800m in 55.3 yesterday at the end of 2600m (mobile) in 3.19.1.

"I was thrilled with his run. He has come back super," Steve Dolan, his Loburn trainer, said.

Dream Out Loud, winner of five of his 11 starts, had a short spell after his last race. He is using the race at Addington on Sunday as a lead-up to the $40,000 Superstars Championship at Addington on March 23. It is planned to race Dream Out Loud at Menangle in April from the stable of Luke McCarthy. He may contest the Chariots Of Fire, depending on how he performs in lesser company.

Dolan left Franco Jamar with McCarthy early this season and the Courage Under Fire entire won seven races and took a mile record of 1.51.2 before he returned to NZ mid-December for a spell.

Franco Jamar finished second to Dream Out Loud yesterday but he was coughing later in the day.

He will be treated for a respiratory infection. He is booked to return to the McCarthy stable in April, with the Len Smith Mile his target.

Shane Sanderson, the Queensland horseman, drove Welsh Flint to a 15-length win in a trial at Forbury Park yesterday. Sanderson also trialled horses at Roxburgh yesterday.
