Christian Banner, trained by Mark Purdon and Grant Payne, won first up as a 2yr-old at Rangiora in February, 2010.
The son of Christian Cullen and Corporate Banner won at Addington as a 3yr-old before he was sidelined in May with a fetlock fracture.
He won a workout at Motukarara last Saturday.
The Payne name will drop off the title at the end of the month, although he will remain as an assistant to Purdon in the stable operation.
"Nothing will change. It is just taking my name off as trainer," Payne said.
The stable has won 556 races and $14,076,154 in five years as a partnership. They have led the premiership in each of those seasons, including the present with 136 wins.
Purdon trained in a sole capacity for the previous 12 seasons.
Purdon has Border Control in the $A100,000 Vicbred series final at Melton tonight.
Border Control, a semifinal winner at Melton last Friday, has a second-line draw to overcome.
Purdon has Fly Like An Eagle and Mr Nickel in a race for 3yr-olds at Melton. He drives Fly Like An Eagle and Brent Mangos has been engaged for Mr Nickel.
The stable is represented by Best Deal Yet and Didjamakem Bolt in the $A30,000 Gold Coast Derby at Parklands tonight.
Natalie Rasmussen drives Best Deal Yet and Todd McCarthy is on Didjamakem Bolt.
Rasmussen drives the stable representative O Baby in the $75,000 Queensland Oaks at Albion Park tomorrow night.
Dexter Dunn drives Castellina Lover in the Oaks.
She travelled by road from Sydney to the stable of John McCarthy at Logan Village on Wednesday.
She joined the New South Wales stable of Luke McCarthy 10 days ago after being flown from Christchurch to Sydney.
"I was very pleased with her condition. She lacks experience and I would be happy if she runs in the top three," Steve Dolan, her former trainer, said.
Dunn will also drive the Luke McCarthy-trained Dream Out Loud in a race for 4yr-olds.
Luke McCarthy is at Menangle where his drives include Chancellor Cullen, who won at Cranbourne last Saturday when having his first start for Victoria trainer Dean Braun.
The John McCarthy-trained Villagem, who has not raced since February 4, is another drive for Luke. Villagem (21 wins) has not been successful since November, 2010 when trained by Lisa Miles.
Adam Sanderson, the leading Southland junior driver this season with 40 wins, is also driving at the Queensland meetings.
