Brownie is an anchor for a $100,00 terminating TAB Pick6 at Addington tonight after five wins in his last six starts.
He has shown his winning form over the past three months since being transferred to the Woodend Beach stable of Greg and Nina Hope. He was passed to the Hopes for beach training after experiencing leg problems.
Three of his wins have been at Addington, where he has now won seven races, six of them when driven by Brent Borcoskie.
Brownie and stablemate Holme Grown (race 9) have not had their training schedules interrupted in recent weeks due to snow.
"We have a covered walker on a shell and sand base and we are able to jog the horses on it," Greg Hope said.
"As soon as the tide goes out there is plenty of space to work on the beach." Hope said Brownie had trained on "very well."
Holme Grown is another success story for the Hopes with an unsound horse. He has won three races and two of his last three since joining the stable in April 2009. He had won four races when trained by Robert Dunn, but developed soreness in a tendon.
Holme Grown has been away from racing for 11 months since joining the Hope stable.
"He had a tendon operation with cells taken out of his neck and inserted in the hole in the tendon," Hope said.
The surgery was undertaken in April 2009 soon after Holme Grown won first up for the Hopes at Motukarara.
Lyalldale Invasion joined the Hope stable this week on the recommendation of his former trainer, Phil Williamson.
The winner of four races, Lyalldale Invasion has soundness problems.
Hostile Grins, last-start winner of the Kurow Cup on August 7, has been scratched tonight but there is nothing amiss with the gelding.
"He had a week off work after the Kurow Cup and then missed work with the snow. We felt he was not ready after he worked on Wednesday," Anthony Butt, his driver, said.
