Dunedin schools scooped the primary and intermediate honours at KartSport New Zealand's 2008 Schools' Championship at Silverstream Raceway.

Liam Young (9) and Cassidy Mowat (12) won the primary and intermediate honours respectively for Wakari School and Kaikorai Valley College at the weekend.

Young finished second in Cadet and Mowat third in Junior Restricted 100cc Yamaha in the individual classes.

Chris Cox and Andrew Errington won the secondary schools' title for Christchurch's St Andrews College at the Dunedin Kart Club and Taieri College-hosted annual event.

Cox, the reigning New Zealand Junior 100cc Yamaha champion, won the Junior 100cc Yamaha and finished second in Formula Junior, while schoolmate Errington won 125cc Rotax Max Light.

Dunedin Kart Club members placed on the podium in the Senior 100cc Yamaha Light class, with Morgan Fraser (16, Kaikorai Valley) second and Alex Spenceley (16, Logan Park High School) third.

Dunedin Kart Club secretary Karen Fraser said more than 70 karters from 42 different schools nationwide enjoyed the two days of racing.
