Netball: Steel to play two games

The Southern Steel will play two games in Dunedin on Saturday as the team continues preparations for the ANZ Championship.

The Steel will play games against the Otago team, which is competing in the Lois Muir Challenge, and the Canterbury men's team.

The matches follow warm-up tournaments in Queenstown and Sydney, and all but shooter Donna Wilkins, who is recovering from a broken wrist, should take the court for the Steel. The matches will be played in the usual format, four 15-minute quarters.

The team may also have one further warm-up match, against the Canterbury Tactix the following weekend, which will be played in either Christchurch or Invercargill.

The competition starts in just over two weeks, when the Steel play the opening match against the Central Pulse in Invercargill on April 4.

Admission is free to both games on Saturday, to be played at the Edgar Centre, at 11am against the Otago team and 2pm against the Canterbury men. The Canterbury men will then take on their Otago counterparts at 4.30pm.

The Steel will play two ANZ Championship games in Dunedin this year, against the Tactix, on April 19, and the Adelaide Thunderbirds, on June 29.
