South has booked a place in the national league final after producing a dominant final quarter to claim a 59-43 final- round win over Central in Invercargill last night.
The southern side gave the small contingent which stuck around after the Steel's ANZ Championship match against the Magic something extra to cheer about at Stadium Southland.
The win means South has booked a rematch against Central, which had already qualified, in the tournament final at the Trusts Arena in Auckland on Sunday.
The home side produced a late rally at the end of the third quarter to open up a 42-37 lead after it led by one goal at halftime.
It then produced a barnstorming finish to win the final quarter 17-6 and clinch a convincing victory.
Wing attack Zoey Flockton enjoyed a strong match at wing attack, contributing 34 feeds and 16 goal assists, while goal shoot Jennifer O'Connell was strong under the hoop and shot 43 from 51.
South qualified top for the final after overtaking Central with yesterday's win.
