The 1.93m 128kg behemoth dubbed "Whoppa" will switch the oval ball for the round variety in a "celebrity" netball match.
The loosehead will be joined by entertainer Jason Schmidt, The Radio Network presenters Lee Piper and Nick Jeffrey, Southland Times sports editor Nathan Burdon and, to bolster the netball skills on court, former Southern Sting defender Jo Cunningham.
They will line up against a team led by former Sting player Michelle Krynen.
Steel physio Paula Black said injured goal attack Megan Dehn was making good progress.
The former Australian international badly sprained her left ankle in the final moments of the Steel's 41-29 win against the Central Pulse in Invercargill last weekend and faces a fitness test at training tonight.
"She is coming along really well but it will depend on how she goes [tonight]," Black said,"We'll try it [her ankle] out with some netball specific drills. But at the moment she is just doing her active recovery."
Defender Megan Hutton has been nursing an ankle injury since the start of the season and goal shoot Daneka Wipiiti was fighting tonsillitis last week.
Both are expected to be fit for the crucial match against the Vixens.
