Netball South has named an 11-strong squad for the inaugural national league.
Coach Lauren Piebenga's team is made up of three defenders, four midcourters and four shooters, and includes former Southern Sting player Sarah Hamilton (nee Barnes).
Hamilton (35) brings plenty of experience to an otherwise youthful squad.
She is joined by Sam Hollows, and Dani Gray at the defensive end.
Sisters Renaye and Zoey Flockton, Lucy Heenan and Rachel Horrocks are the midcourters, while New Zealand under-21 squad member Sophie Erwood, Oamaru's Jennifer O'Connell, Verdon College teenager Aliyah Dunn and Bridget Thayer are at the attacking end.
Southern Steel players Abby Erwood, Jamie Hume, Brooke Leaver and Stacey Peeters are also eligible to play for the team, as they have played fewer than 24 quarters of ANZ Championship netball.
Piebenga picked the team after a two-day trial at the Edgar Centre in Dunedin at the weekend, and said she was looking forward to building for her team's campaign.
The five-team national league, which will underpin the ANZ Championship, features teams from each of the zones - Northern, Central, Waikato-BOP, Mainland and South.
They will play a double round-robin, before the top two teams meet in the final in Auckland on June 26.
Netball South's first regular-season match is against Northern in Invercargill on April 10.
