Dunedin has advanced to the semifinals of the national under-17 tournament after winning both of its playoff matches yesterday.
The side, which is now unbeaten after six games, beat Hutt Valley 35-30 and Hawke's Bay 49-28 on the third day of the tournament to set up a semifinal against Wellington A Black today.
Auckland 1 and Wellington B Gold will meet in the other semifinal, with the final to be played this afternoon.
Meanwhile, North Otago will play off for positions 25-28 after recording its second win of the tournament yesterday.
It beat Selwyn 38-37 after earlier losing 44-36 to Whangarei, and will meet South Canterbury in its next playoff game.
Christchurch B and Mid Canterbury will also contest positions 25-28.
Central Otago continued to struggle yesterday and will play off for 35th and 36th when it takes on Papakura in its final game today.
The side lost to Kapiti (27-24) and Pukekohe (27-21) to remain winless from six matches so far.
