Dehn (34) played for the Steel last year and has been brought into the side for the final three games of the season, replacing goal shoot Daneka Wipiiti, who is pregnant.
Dehn said from Invercargill yesterday that she had jumped at the chance to come back to the Steel.
She had been living in Sydney and playing tennis and doing plenty of training to keep fit.
The Steel tried to sign Dehn at the start of the season but its application was turned down by Netball New Zealand.
But with Wipiiti out of the picture, Dehn was rushed back into the side, and would have to be on top of her game in the final three matches of the season.
The Steel plays the Queensland Firebirds next Monday night in Brisbane, then the Adelaide Thunderbirds in Dunedin on June 29 and finish against the New South Wales Swifts in Invercargill on July 4.
"It just feels the same as last year. They're a great bunch of girls and Robyn [ Broughton] is a great coach," she said.
"The first training session I had I thought `this is cool'."
Dehn said the Steel girls had welcomed her back with open arms. She had already had two trainings with the team in Perth and Invercargill.
Dehn said the competition was very tight and the final top four position was probably between the Steel, the Firebirds and the West Coast Fever.
The Steel had to win all three games to get into top four play-offs, she said, but Dehn felt the team was peaking nicely.
On the sideline on Monday night, when the Steel nabbed a two-point win over the Mystics after being well ahead, she said the team always seemed comfortable and was never going to lose.
Dehn is flatting in Invercargill with Steel team-mates Wendy Telfer and Te Huinga Reo Selby-Rickit.
