Columba has a chance to defend their South Island secondary school netball tournament title in Christchurch today.
They face St Andrew’s in the semifinals this morning and will head to the final this afternoon if they win.
Yesterday Columba beat St Peter’s 50-37 and had a 26-26 draw with St Hilda’s. St Hilda’s beat Otago Girls’ 41-28. St Peter’s then beat Otago Girls’ 42-36, James Hargest edged Nelson 32-30 and then lost 57-24 to St Margaret’s.
Central Southland lost 43-27 to St Margaret’s and lost 25-24 over Nelson. Mount Aspiring beat Southland Girls’ 30-19 and Rangi Ruru 29-25. Rangi Ruru beat Cromwell 35-20 and Cromwell beat Southland Girls’ 29-24.
Taieri beat Wakatipu 35-25 and Craighead 30-28. Wakatipu defeated Verdon 24-16 and Verdon lost 36-17 to Craighead.
Dunstan won 37-35 over Ashburton and 38-27 over Rolleston. St Kevin’s beat Darfield 44-35 and Roncalli 37-22. Waitaki Girls’ won 44-19 over Roncalli and 43-23 over Darfield. The competition finishes today.
