Kristin School, from North Harbour, won the national secondary schools golf final, finishing three shots ahead of Macleans College (Auckland) on the Manukau course yesterday.
The winning team held a three-shot lead at lunch and maintained the impetus in the afternoon.
Jane Lee (Kristin) took the individual title by two shots from Keelan Kilpatrick (St Bedes) to become the first female to achieve this feat.
The 14 schools encountered very tough conditions, with strong winds buffeting the players throughout the day.
Otago Boys High School made a disastrous start with Duncan Croudis, Travis Applegarth, Thomas Facer and Kayne Wardell lying in seventh place at lunch.
The Dunedin quartet posted the best equal team score of 232 with St Bedes in the afternoon but failed to gain any places.
The Otago golfers now compete in the New Zealand under-19 championships, which begin on the North Shore course tomorrow.
Next year, both events will be staged at the Balmacewen course in Dunedin.
