The eight players chosen will compete in the South Island interprovincial on the Greenacres course, in Nelson, on November 8 and 9.
Brent McEwan (St Clair), Cameron Beel (Otago) and Russell Newman (Taieri) were not named in the team after indiscretions at the Otago matchplay during the weekend.
McEwan failed to make his Sunday tee time while Beel and Newman withdrew from the plate after losing their first-round matches in the senior championship.
This left other golfers with no opponents on Sunday afternoon and a sour taste among many of the senior players.
Rose and his brother, Alan, have sent a clear message that talent alone will not suffice and focus and commitment must be shown to play for Otago.
The flow-on effect of their omissions will be that none of the three will make the final quintet for the national interprovincial tournament in December.
The team includes three newcomers at this level with Mark Brooks (Queenstown) at No 4, Brad Nicholson (Arrowtown) at No 7 and championship finalist Duncan Croudis (Otago) at No 8.
