North Otago fired in two catch-up games, beating Chisholm Park by 4.5 to 3.5 at North Otago on Saturday, to climb into third place at the halfway stage of the Otago Coastal senior A men's pennant series.
Earlier this month, North Otago beat South Otago in another match which had been postponed because of severe weather and course conditions.
The match on Saturday looked set for a half until Matt Booth (Chisholm Park) missed a short putt on the final green, allowing Andrew Caldwell to secure the valuable half for North Otago.
Chisholm Park greenkeeper Philip Bungard was in good form, finishing under par in the battle of the No 1 players to beat North Otago's club champion, John Cunningham, in 14 holes.
The form shown in the top three matches belied the winter conditions, with Gary Creedy and Michael Minty (both North Otago) finishing with 69 and 70 respectively to post convincing wins.
Waitaki schoolboy Thomas Forbes and Dave Lamond notched the other two wins for North Otago.
Taieri and South Otago are yet to play their catch-up game from round five, while the event will resume with round 6 on Saturday.
