Golf: Lee starts to make move at Open

New Zealand amateur star Danny Lee has peeled off four straight birdies to be within a shot of the lead at the New Zealand Open.

Lee is three-under-par after eight holes at The Hills, a shot behind o-leaders Todd Demsey (US) and Stephen Dartnall (Australia).

Sir Bob Charles is one-over through nine holes. Starting on the 10th hole, he bogied the 11th and had a double-bogey six on the 14th.

New Zealand amateur Thomas Spearman-Burn and New Zealand PGA champion Steve Alker are just one shot off the pace.

It is crisp and sunny at The Hills and crowds are starting to pour into the course.
