A strong team effort gave the Otago girls' team the winners' medals in the South Island age-group interprovincial tournament which was reduced to one round in Methven at the weekend.
The girls' event was decided on stableford points but strong gross scores in the difficult wind and rain from Monica Tulisi and Shani Arona helped see the team home.
None of the Otago girls folded in the conditions with Lily Borren topping the scoring with 33 stableford points.
But the under-19 boys and under-16 boys teams suffered from poor starts with Canterbury winning both sections.
Travis Applegarth was the only exception.
He grafted out a score of four over par 75, which was one shot behind the Mark O'Malley's best score of the tournament.
The Otago under-19 team fought back well in the second round with all five players close to par.
But this was to no avail when play was abandoned on Saturday afternoon.
The course was under water on Sunday.
This placed Otago in third place behind Canterbury and Aorangi.
The Canterbury under-16 team blitzed the grade with scores close to the under-19 winners.
The Otago team of Gregor Croudis, Kayne Wardell, Michael Watson, Chadol Han, and Ryan Shuttleworth claimed silver.
