Dunedin golfer Phil Bungard has had quite the past month on the greens and has added another title.
Bungard won the Dunedin strokeplay after defeating young Connor Howes in a playoff yesterday afternoon at St Clair Golf Club.
At the end of the two-day tournament, nothing could separate Bungard and Howes, who both shot 147 across the two rounds. But Bungard used all his experience to win the playoff and secure the Dunedin strokeplay title.
It is the second title for Bungard in recent weeks, after he won the Otago strokeplay at the end of January.
He led from the start during that tournament and eventually won by one shot over Canterbury’s Cooper Moore.
The Dunedin strokeplay was slightly down on numbers this year due to the Otago Golf Club’s annual interclub clash with the Christchurch Golf Club on at Balmacewen.
