Poor weather put a dampener on round 18 of the Footballsouth Premier League, with just two of the five scheduled games possible at the weekend.
The Dunedin Technical-University, Caversham-Grants Braes and Northern-Queenstown games were postponed due to sodden fields.
However, Mosgiel consolidated third place on the competition table with a 3-0 win against the erratic Roslyn-Wakari at Memorial Park.
Mosgiel striker Phil Kelly made the most of some reasonable underfoot conditions, latching on to a cross and driving a volley into the net to open the scoring after 25 minutes.
Conditions deteriorated in the second spell with heavy rain soaking the surface.
Mosgiel pressed its advantage when Regan Coldicott's crisp strike from 25m found the back of the net, and Kelly sealed the win when he nodded in a cross.
The last 10 to 15 minutes was a bit of a slog in the mud with neither side able to control the ball.
In the other match, the Spirit beat Green Island 3-1 in Invercargill.
Dunedin Technical leads the league with 43 points from 16 matches, but Caversham remains in touch with 37 points from 13 games.
However, the Steve Fleming-led side might be a bit distracted as it prepares for its Chatham Cup semifinal against Bay Olympic at the Caledonian this Saturday.
Bay Olympic coach Shane Knowles made the trip down from Auckland to scout Caversham's game on Saturday.
But he had to be content to watch Caversham go through some training drills instead.
