Same, same. Otago have opted for consistency.

The Volts have remained loyal to their group of contracted players and invited everyone back.

There are only two new faces on the list.

Canterbury top-order batter Leo Carter has accepted a contract to play for the Volts. He announced late last month he was moving south for the summer.

The left-hander has a useful first-class record. The 29-year-old has scored 2686 runs at an average of 30.87, including three centuries.

His list-A record —1238 runs at 34.38 — is decent, and he is closing in on 1000 T20 runs.

Carter made headlines when he blasted six sixes in an over during a Super Smash game against Northern Districts in 2020. He also notched a first-class double century that season.

He replaces veteran opener Hamish Rutherford, who retired last season.

Batter Jamal Todd has also picked up his first contract. The 20-year-old made a positive impression with a couple of nice knocks in the Plunket Shield.

He notched 64 against Canterbury, which was notable given the opposition had a very decent seam attack that included the likes of Black Cap Kyle Jamieson.

With Jacob Duffy claiming a national contract, the Volts have freed up another spot which may well go to Ollie White when the second round of contracts are dished out later this month.

The 22-year-old played six T20s for the Volts last season.

Robbie O’Donnell joined Carter in making the decision to switch teams. He has moved from Auckland to Northern Districts after 10 years with the Aces.

The 29-year-old has captained the team since 2019-20 and led Auckland to two list-A titles, a Plunket Shield title and a Super Smash title last season.

Central Districts bowler Liam Dudding has joined Wellington, and former Black Cap Neil Wagner, who has retired from international cricket, has accepted a contract with Northern Districts.
