Taieri 239/9 beat North-East Valley 181

Taieri treated the old fellows to a good show.

They secured the Bing Harris Shield last weekend and celebrated with a 58-run win in a Dunedin premier club dead rubber against North East Valley at Brooklands on Saturday.

The team invited past players down to the club to help celebrate their first senior banner in 18 years.

Kevin Loggenberg thumped 94 from 107 deliveries to help his side post 239 for nine.

Ruben Clinton (30), Cameron Elliott (32), Ben Lockrose (36) and Samuel Duff (28) all made valuable contributions.

Gus Holt (three for 59) and Jeremy Smith (two for 47) were the pick of the North-East Valley bowlers.

But Taieri’s Toby Hart was the best on display. The 21-year-old right-arm medium pacer, who made his list A debut for Otago in November, nabbed four for 47 from his 10 overs.

Lockrose was superb as well. The Otago left-arm spinner took two for 19 from 9.1 overs.

Hunter Kindley top-scored for the Swans with 43 and combined in a 69-run stand with Henry Dobson (30).

Hayden Johnston added 30 from 27 balls from No 7. But the lower order melted away.

Albion 205/9 beat Green Island 147

Albion won by 61 runs via PlayHQ’s invisible Duckworth-Lewis-Stern calculator.

Their game with Green Island at Bishopscourt got off to a delayed start and was reduced to 44 overs apiece.

More rain cut the Eagles’ innings short, their tally of 205 for nine adjusted up to 208.

Connor Macleod top-scored with 53 and No 9 Tommy Clout whacked 41 from 33 balls.

Veteran Green Island left-armer Blair Soper took three for 44 and Jake Clare claimed three for 43.

The conditions were not flash in the second innings. Neither side were clear where they stood in relation to the DLS par total because scoring platform PlayHQ still does not include a running DLS total three years after it was thrust upon community cricket by the national body.

Green Island opener Regan Cairns whacked three sixes in a whirlwind 23 form 12 at the top of the order, and Joel Meade notched 50 from 40 at No7. But the Swamp Rats fell short.

Patrick Arnold took three for 29, supported by Lahiru Vimukthi (two for eight) and Clout (two for 45).

University-Grange 188 beat CDK 118

University-Grange pair Angus Henry and Venkat Kotte set up a healthy win against CDK with a 67-run stand.

Henry stroked three fours and three sixes in his innings of 63 from 88, and Kotte crafted a patient 41 from 87.

No-one else in the lineup made much of a dent.

CDK bowlers Thomas O’Connor (three for 33) and Jack Wright (three for 33) made inroads, while Harry Sixton took one for 23 from 10.

But the chase fell apart early. CDK slumped to 45 for six.

Alfie Omelvena-Flame was the only batter who mounted any real resistance. He posted 40 off 73 balls.

Shiv Achary snapped up three wickets for 12 runs and wrist spinner Zac Cumming took three for 32.

Captain Benedict Hardie and Hrishi Bolar picked up two apiece.
