It is Sydney for the Bash.

Otago and Black Caps all-rounder Nathan McCullum will play in the Australian Big Bash twenty/20 tournament for the Sydney Sixers in their match against the Adelaide Strikers at the Adelaide Oval today.

It is not the first time a McCullum has flitted over to Australia to play a game or two. Younger brother Brendon McCullum has played two games for the Brisbane Heat this summer while captaining Otago in the HRV Cup.

He is hot property on the twenty/20 circuit having played more than 120 games for a total of nine teams including New Zealand.

Nathan, too, is no stranger to cricketing adventures. He had a stint with Lancashire in 2010 and played two games for Indian Premier League franchise the Pune Warriors last year.

The 31-year-old's latest sojourn will be brief. He returns to Dunedin tomorrow and will be available for the rest of Otago's twenty/20 campaign.

Otago needs to beat Canterbury at the University Oval on Friday to keep its title prospects alive.

Meanwhile, the Sixers beat cross-city rivals the Sydney Thunder by 17 runs on Sunday night and are in third spot.
