Otago Cricket chief executive Ross Dykes is hoping for a 3000 sellout crowd at the University Oval for the national twenty/20 final on Sunday.
Otago won the right to host the final when it destroyed Auckland in Auckland yesterday - and is expecting to field a full-strength team when it plays Canterbury in the final.
As a bonus, the winning team may receive an invitation to the multimillion-dollar India-based Champions League competition, to be played this year.
Mr Dykes said the team had played very well and to host a final was "brilliant".
In anticipation of a victory, plans to host a final were begun last week, he said.
There would be a dedicated student area beneath the scoreboard and a family enclosure directly opposite the scoreboard.
Tickets - at $15 for adults, $5 a child, and a student price yet to be decided - would go on sale today.
Pitch preparations began last week.
Otago has four players - Ian Butler, Neil Broom and Nathan and Brendon McCullum - playing for New Zealand in the twenty/20 match against India on Friday night in Wellington.
But Mr Dykes said all four would play, injury permitting, on Sunday.
Mr Dykes was hoping for a dry day, but said the ground drained well.
The Otago Daily Times will be giving away tickets to readers throughout this week.
See tomorrow's ODT for details.
