Glassey (39), a cook at the Watties jam factory in Hastings, has qualified for two events at the New Zealand PBA finals at the Westpac Stadium.
He has qualified for the Scottish singles and the international singles and has a double chance to make the trip to the UK.
This is the fourth time the finals series has been played in Dunedin after 2005, 2010 and 2012.
Glassey joined the New Zealand PBA when it was formed in 2000 and is the only finalist in this weekend’s events who started at the beginning.
It took him 15 years to gain top ranking in New Zealand when he edged out Dunedin veteran Ken Walker last year.
He retained top spot in the qualifying events this year and has already secured top ranking again.
Glassey has competed in six Trans Tasman Challenges and became Australasian PBA singles champion in 2013 and 2014.
Glassey will be matched against Rob Ashton (Auckland) who joined him in this year’s Trans Tasman Challenge.
Ashton (62) joined the PBA in 2005 and contested the Scottish singles at Perth in 2014 and the World Indoor singles at Norfolk this year.
In both events, only one of them can advance to the finals.
They are scheduled to meet in the semifinals of the Scottish singles and in the quarterfinals of the international singles.
Two bowlers capable of spoiling the party in the Scottish singles are Stephen Zino (Wellington) and Sheldon Bagrie-Howley (Gore).
Zino (38) has been a member of the PBA since 2002 and competed in the Scottish singles at Perth in 2013.
Bagrie-Howley (21) is one of the most promising younger bowlers in New Zealand.
