Bill Clements, 75, of the Alexandra Bowling Club, won his 85th title in a triples tournament in Wānaka earlier this month.
Clements, alongside team-mates Len Lynskey and Ray Leedon, beat a team from Arrowtown 25-5.
Clements won his first Central Otago title in 1983, when he won the open singles.
From there the titles kept coming.
However, reaching the milestone of 100 titles is not something he is actively chasing.
"I haven’t set any targets, or anything like that whatsoever. If I get another title that’s a bonus, if I don’t get one I won’t be too worried about it," he said.
When looking back on his time bowling, there were a lot of highs, including his first title win, Clements said.
Another was the 15 years he spent playing in the North East Valley 10,000 singles, an invitational event played in Dunedin against competition that included skilled international bowlers.
"To play against them, that does lift your game for sure."
