Late entries have saved the Dunedin Festival Fours competition.
The annual tournament will be held at the Kaikorai Bowling Club this weekend.
It was a relieved tournament secretary Bryan Buchanan who told the Otago Daily Times yesterday that the 60th Festival Fours would be held.
"Two more entries have come in over the last two days and we have decided to go ahead with the event,'' he said.
The Festival Fours was first held in 1955 by the Kaituna Bowling Club as part of Dunedin's Festival Week and has been organised by the Kaikorai Club since 2005, after Kaituna went into recess.
"We will accept further entries until noon on Friday.
"It is an important event on the Bowls Dunedin calendar and we want it to continue,'' Buchanan said.
The format will be the same as last year.
All teams will play seven 12-end games and the winner of the $2000 first prize will be decided on a points system.
Teams get 20 points for a win and 10 for a draw and one point for each end won.
Play will start at the Kaikorai club at 8.30am on Saturday and Sunday, January 2-3.
The final game is expected to start at 1pm on Sunday.
Late entries for the 60th Dunedin Festival Fours should be sent to Buck Buchanan by telephoning (03) 466-7666.
Entries will be accepted until noon on Friday.
