The under-23 girls team was named team of the year, after making the final at national tournament. Sisters Aleisha and Nicole Ruske shared the team’s most valuable player award.
Nicole was presented with Blues for national team representation, having played for the Junior Tall Ferns.
Janet Main and Soraya Umaga-Jensen, who played for the New Zealand Select team, were also awarded Blues, as was Junior Tall Black Josh Aitcheson.
Aitcheson won most valuable player of the under-19 men’s team, while that team’s coach Greg Brockbank shared the coach of the year award with under-15 boys coach Dean Ruske.
Brockbank was also one of five recipients of the long service award, alongside Liane Topham-Kindley, Keri Ballantyne, Suzanne Te Au and Katherine Richards.
Gavin Briggs was presented with the Gary Smyth services to basketball award.
Most valuable player, most improved and endeavour awards were presented in age-grades from under-13 upwards.
