The New Zealand Breakers have confirmed the signing of towering centre Tacko Fall for the rest of this Australian NBL season and the next.

The 2.29m Senegalese star has been based in New Zealand for the past month rehabilitating from a quad injury, officially signing with the club as they look to continue their strong start (7-3) to the season.

Fall, who has previously played in the NBA with the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers, brings significant international experience to the Breakers.

Chief executive Lisa Edser expressed her excitement at the acquisition.

"Tacko is a game-changer. His size, shot-blocking ability and rebounding give him a unique edge," she said.

"Beyond the court, he’s a team-first player with an incredible work ethic. He has been working hard to get playing fit, and we are pleased to see him fully integrated into our squad."

Fall said he was looking forward to the opportunity to get out on court.

"I’m honoured to have the opportunity to play for the Breakers," Fall said.

"New Zealand has a great basketball culture, and the fans here are incredible. I’m ready to give my all for this team."

The Breakers have a doubleheader in round 10 with away games against the Illawarra Hawks tomorrow night and the Perth Wildcats on Sunday. — APL
