Invercargill's i-Site centre has been rendered no longer tenable due to the impact of Covid-19.
Great South, which owned the information network, on Friday announced the temporary Wachner Pl site would close its doors before Christmas and the building would be removed.
Great South chief executive Graham Budd said it was not viable for the i-Site to remain open, with the drop in international travellers since the pandemic, resulting in a major decline in revenue.
The situation would be reviewed when borders reopened and international travel resumed.
Bookings for external services would now need to be completed directly with the service provider or through the national i-Site network online.
