Two people were airlifted to Dunedin Hospital in a critical condition after two vehicles collided in Gore’s main street.
A police spokeswoman said officers were called to the collision in Main St (State Highway 1), about 5.40pm on Saturday.
The serious crash unit was notified and inquiries into the crash were being undertaken, the spokeswoman said.
A Fenz spokesman said two people were trapped inside one of the cars and were cut free by the Gore Volunteer Fire Brigade.
A Hato Hone St John spokeswoman said two patients in a critical condition were airlifted to Dunedin Hospital and one patient with minor injuries was treated at the scene, the spokeswoman said.
