Police are urging Oamaru motorists to remain vigilant after a series of minor crashes on Wednesday and yesterday.
Senior Sergeant Jason McCoy, of Oamaru, said police attended a crash on Wednesday evening in which the driver of a car lost control and it hit a grass bank in Waterfront Rd.
The 19-year-old male driver was processed for drink-driving, recording a breath-alcohol level of 389mcg. The legal limit for drivers under 20 is zero.
Police also attended a crash at the corner of Arun and Mersey Sts on Wednesday. The driver of one vehicle turned from Mersey St into Arun St and into the path of another vehicle, resulting in minor injuries, Snr Sgt McCoy said.
Yesterday, police attended a collision at the intersection of Eden and Humber Sts, where the female driver of a turning vehicle crashed into a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction. There were no injuries, but the drivers of both vehicles were shaken after the crash.
Police also received a report of dangerous driving in Wansbeck St on Wednesday, where the driver allegedly did handbrake slides while several children were on the street.
