Owaka Motors owner Perry Moore said the boat belonged to a visiting friend of his, and had made its way safely to moorings on the Newhaven side of the Catlins River estuary once it refloated on the tide.
Mr Moore said the friend was visiting him in Owaka for a few days’ holiday.
