After 45 years, Sister Noreen McGrath (66) is now a New Zealand citizen.

A member of the Presentation Sisters, an order of Roman Catholic women, she is one of five sisters living in Otago. Originally from Listowel, in southern Ireland, Sr McGrath moved to New Zealand 45 years ago, where she trained as a teacher in adult education.

She lived in Milton for three years, but moved to Mosgiel today to "settle down" after moving around New Zealand as part of her pastoral ministry.

Balclutha dentist Adrian Fernandez (24), of Malaysia, also became a citizen. He moved to Balclutha last year in search of a rural job that was close to a city.

"It's a great place with great people," Mr Fernandez said.
