Cleaning up Balclutha's main street and getting Clyde St retailers talking to each other is on Clutha mayor Bryan Cadogan's agenda today.
Mr Cadogan, who owns a Clyde St retail store, says a spring wash-up will take place.
The idea is to give business frontages and the town centre's footpath a water-blast and general tidy-up.
"If we all do it at the same time, the impact will be seen, and it costs us nothing," he said.
Clyde St retailers the Otago Daily Times spoke to were generally supportive of the mayor's clean-up campaign.
Unichem Grays Pharmacy owner Daniel Haw said he would clean his shop front, if he could find a hose.
Harcourts property manager Debra Young said it was a great idea and she had been wanting to "get out there and blast it for ages".
Balclutha Farm Machinery manager Steve Ensor said he was certainly going to get involved.
"It's not going to cost anybody anything except a bit of time and some water," he said.
