Eco fund

Clutha will benefit from some of Otago Regional Council’s recent $854,733 provision of eco funding.

Lovells Flat Rabbit Control Group was granted $34,863.30 for control fencing.

The Royal Forest and Bird Protection Society of New Zealand will share $137,780 for species and habitat restoration along Clutha district and Dunedin city coastlines.

"Otago gets huge value from the Eco Fund," Cr Alan Somerville said.

"Control of pests ... protects our natural landscapes and habitats [and] helps our native animal populations recover.

"Communities know what matters most locally.

"Local groups build valuable knowledge and skills and strengthen community connections."
