Progress on ‘M. bovis’

The fight against Mycoplasma bovis has marched forward, with accountability for the disease moved from the Ministry of Primary Industries to Operational Solutions for Primary Industries (OSPRI).

M. bovis eradication was estimated to have cost $870 million in 2018.

"It is important we protect this investment and the hard work of all involved," Biosecurity Minister Andrew Hoggard said.

OSPRI has been carrying out disease control and on-farm operations since November 2023. The M. bovis National Pest Management Plan is expected to be in place by the end of 2024.
